The city of Braga’s third March for LGBT Rights will be held on Saturday, 27 June. For 2015, organizers Braga Out of the Closet (Fora do Armário) are focusing on the hardships and public scrutiny of transgender individuals with the theme “No to Transphobic Violence”. The march begins at 17:00 at the Arco da Porta Nova in Braga.

The march pays tribute to Gisberta, a Brazilian transsexual who, in 2006, was found in the trash in Loures, beaten and raped. Ultimately, the court decreed the case as a “bad joke gone wrong.”

Program for the day includes:

■ 17:00 – March starting at Arco da Porta Nova

■ 23:55 – March Party at Insólito Bar (€5.00 entrance), with DJ Pau.

Those in Porto are invited to attend. A group is being organized to meet at 11:00 at O Contrabando (Rua Mártires da Liberdade, 83, in Porto), to paint posters and construct signs to be carried in the march. The group grabs a train at 14:45 at São Bento station to travel to join the fellow marchers in Braga.
